Why Do I See Two Different High Heart Rate Values in Garmin Connect?

The high heart rate value displayed in your Garmin Connect™ account can be different from the maximum heart rate value recorded during an activity. This perceived discrepancy is a result of how each metric is calculated which results in the different values.

Daily High Heart Rate

The high heart rate displayed in your Garmin Connect account shows the highest heart rate for the day based on two minute averages collected by the optical heart rate sensor on your watch.

NOTE: An HRM-Pro™ or HRM-Pro™ Plus monitor that has been paired to your Garmin Connect app can also measure your daily high heart rate. A high heart rate value recorded by a heart rate strap may not be reflected on the Daily Summary heart rate graph if a watch with an optical heart rate sensor had different readings during the period the high value was captured.

Activity Maximum Heart Rate

The maximum heart rate value is recorded on per-second data during a timed activity. It is more precise than the two-minute averages recorded as part of daily wellness data tracking.
