Garmin ActiveCaptain Community Setup
If after connecting to the chartplotter with a mobile device using ActiveCaptain the ActiveCaptain Comm. section shows an exclamation mark next to it, it is an indication that the ActiveCaptain Community needs to be set up. To set up ActiveCaptain Community:
Connect to a Wi-Fi network or Cellular Data
Open ActiveCaptain on the mobile device
Select Settings
Select Chart Download Settings and ensure ActiveCaptain Community box is checked
Allow the mobile device to collect ActiveCaptain Community markers by leaving the ActiveCaptain App open if maps tiles are already downloaded. If no map tiles have been downloaded, see Downloading Charts with ActiveCaptain. ActiveCaptain Community markers will populate for downloaded areas of the map if the box has been checked in Chart Download Settings. Connect to the chartplotters Wi-Fi and then community data will then transfer to the chartplotter. Allow several minutes for ActiveCaptain Community data to transfer. Once the data transfer is done the icon will turn to a green checkmark.
NOTE: If tiles have already been downloaded the markers will populate on their own after the app has had a moment to collect the data from Wi-Fi or Cellular service.
