(2014) Service Advisory 1446: Unexpected VNAV behavior with departure that terminates at arrival/approach
PRODUCTS AFFECTED:
- G1000, G950, G900X, Prodigy, and Perspective Systems with GDU v13.01 to v13.08 and v14.00 to v14.03
- G2000, G3000, and G5000 with GDU v3.00 to v3.18, and v4.00, to v4.10
ISSUE:
When a waypoint with a VNAV altitude constraint is shared between the end of a departure procedure and the beginning of an arrival or approach procedure in an active flight plan, the system may not provide the expected VNAV (vertical navigation) guidance to the shared waypoint. In some cases, the system may either display no vertical guidance, or it may provide climb guidance when descent guidance is expected.
PILOT ACTION:
Crews should more closely monitor vertical guidance indications when the active flight plan includes a departure procedure that transitions to an arrival or approach using a shared vertically constrained waypoint and take appropriate actions to follow terminal procedures as published.
