Charging and Power Issues on Dog Tracking Collars
If a Garmin dog tracking collar will not charge or power on there are several things that can be checked to possibly resolve the issue. Use the troubleshooting steps below according to the behavior displayed.
Steps for a Collar That Will Not Charge
- Inspect the charging clip and AC adapter or vehicle power cable for any damage and replace if necessary

- For AC adapters or vehicle power cables, refer to the product page for your specific collar on buy.garmin.com and click on Accessories
- Remove and reconnect the charging clip to the collar.
- Use a different cable and AC adaptor.
- Ensure that all the pins on the charging clip push in and spring back out.
- Make sure the charging contacts are clean and dry.

Steps for a Collar That Will Not Power On
- Press and hold the power button for up to 60 seconds.
- Make sure the battery is charged.
- Connect the collar to the charger and attempt to power on when connected.
- If the collar powers on, leave it plugged in to charge the battery
- If the collar powers off immediately when disconnected after attempting to charge, the battery may need to be replaced

Steps for a Collar That Will Not Power Off or Shows a Solid Red Light
- Press and hold the power button for 60 seconds
- Charge the battery for 3 hours
- Master Reset the dog device
- Ensure that the collars software is up to date.
