Live traffic information can be received through your compatible smartphone's data plan and can be sent instantly to your Garmin automotive navigator through the free Garmin Drive™ app. This information allows your Garmin device to display and help you avoid slow traffic due to accidents, construction, or other obstacles.
First, it is necessary to install the free Garmin Drive application to your compatible smartphone. See Garmin Drive App Compatibility and Availability to verify your phone is compatible.

1. Open the Garmin Drive app
2. In the Drive app, if prompted, check the agree to the terms and touch Next
3. Agree to the Warning
4. On the Garmin device touch Settings 
from the Where to / View map page
5. Touch Wireless Networks
6. Check the box next to Bluetooth if it is unchecked
7. Touch Navigation Device in the Garmin Drive app
8. Touch Allow
9. If prompted, verify code on the Garmin device and touch Pair
10. Touch Yes on the Garmin device after verifying the code on the phone
11. The app will begin searching for the device
12. You will now be paired to the Drive app. Follow the remaining prompts to agree to the personal data policy and sign into your Garmin account.
The Garmin Drive app will automatically communicate with the device when the device and phone are powered on and in range of each other.
Live traffic service should begin automatically after your device and phone have been connected with the Garmin Drive app.
