New Garmin data card is not being recognized by a portable marine chartplotter

If a blank Garmin Data card is inserted into one of your portable marine chartplotters and is not recognized, there are three possible solutions to resolving this issue.

First, we would recommend that you update the internal operating system of your device to the latest version. There is a possibility an update exists that will allow portable marine chartplotters to read larger Garmin Data Cards. For more information on updating the internal operating system of your device, please see Related Content.

Second, we recommend testing the blank Garmin Data Card in a similar device. If the card works in another device, the card reader from your original device may be bad and would need to be sent in for repair under an RMA (Return Merchandise Authorization). Please contact Garmin Product Support to setup an RMA.

Third, we recommend testing a different blank Garmin Data card in the device. If a different Garmin Data Card is able to be read, the new Garmin Data Card may be bad and would need to be replaced. Please contact the dealer the card was purchased from for an exchange.
