Turning Off the XM Audio without Disabling the Turn by Turn Directions on a GPSMAP 396 or GPSMAP 496

To Turn off the XM Audio without Turning off the Turn by Turn Directions:

1. With the device powered ON, press the Menu button twice.

2. Highlight the XM tab.

3. Press the Right arrow button one time to highlight the Audio tab at the top of the screen.

4. Press the Menu button.

5. Highlight Mute Audio Output and press the Enter button.

6. The XM audio should be muted now. In the bottom right-hand corner, there should be a musical note with a redline through it.

Check the Following Settings if the Turn by Turn Directions are Not Heard when Navigating with the XM Audio Muted:

1. With the device powered ON, press and hold the Page button for a few seconds.

2. When the new window appears, highlight Automotive and press the Enter button.

3. Press the Menu button twice.

4. Highlight the Sound tab on the left-hand side of the screen. If the Sound tab is not visible, keep scrolling down until it appears. 

5. Make sure the setting for Voice Prompt on the right is set to either Guidance and Status or Route Guidance Only.

6. Make sure the Audio Volume at the bottom of the screen is turned up as well.
