Cross-Country (XC) Ski Power on Garmin Watches
The XC Classic Ski and XC Skate Ski activity profiles on your compatible Garmin watch now support the cross-country (XC) Ski Power metric and data field, when your watch is paired with a compatible HRM. For steps on customizing data fields, refer to your owner's manual and search "Customizing the Data Screens".

How Is Power Calculated for XC Ski?
The compatible accessory uses information from internal sensors, along with speed and elevation data from the paired watch, to determine the glide phase of cross-country skiing. When in a glide phase, a fixed friction coefficient is calculated based on speed and elevation changes. If in an extended glide, the friction coefficient will be adjusted. These inputs are used to compute power.
The Ski Power metric will help you focus your training. You will also be able to set up power zones just like you can for cycling activities. FTP for XC Ski must be entered manually. For steps on setting power zones and FTP, see - Changing Power Zones in Garmin Connect.
NOTE: Without an HRM-Fit, HRM-Pro, or HRM-Pro Plus, limited Ski Dynamics will still be displayed.
