The differences between the HVS and NMEA 2000 versions of the GPS 17x and 19x antennas

Garmin offers the following two versions of the GPS 17x and 19x antennas:

  • HVS
  • NMEA 2000

The HVS version of these antennas have an 8-pin connector on the bottom. These antennas are connected over bare wire to the chartplotter. For information about connecting these antennas, refer to the Installation Manual of the chartplotter it is being connected to.

The NMEA 2000 version of these antennas have a 5-pin connector on the bottom. These antennas communicate using the NMEA 2000 standard, and is installed using a drop cable to an existing NMEA 2000 backbone.

NOTE:  The 17x versions of these antennas have been discontinued and replaced by the GPS 19x HVS and GPS 19x NMEA 2000 antennas.
