Pairing the VIRB Elite to a Compatible Smartphone

NOTE: The VIRB® Mobile app has been discontinued from the Google Play Store and is no longer available to download for Android devices.

The free Garmin VIRB app allows you to control most functions of one or more VIRB cameras using a compatible mobile device. With this app, you can control video and photo recording, change video and photo settings, see real-time view¹, and view battery and sensor status. To Pair your VIRB Elite to the VIRB App:

1. On the VIRB, press the MODE button
2. Select Setup
3. Select Wi-Fi
   • Note: When the VIRB Elite is in wireless mode, you can only access Viewfinder, Dashboard, and Wi-Fi settings on the Camera UI.
4. Set status to On
5. Write down the SSID and password for the created wireless network
6. Press OK
   • Optional: Connect additional cameras to the Wi‑Fi access point or network if desired
7. Use your phone's Wi-Fi settings to join the camera's Wi-Fi network
8. On your mobile device, start the Garmin VIRB app.
   • The app searches for cameras and connects automatically

The VIRB app should now be connected to your action camera.

The Following Options are Available Once Paired:

1. • Use the on-screen controls to control recording or change settings
   • Use the drop-down list to switch to another camera, if multiple cameras are connected
   • Use the tabs to switch between recording and playback mode

¹The VIRB Elite does not support playback, editing, uploading, or streaming through the VIRB app. Live view is only available when not recording. During a recording, the display on VIRB Mobile will go black.
