Autopilot Overshoot

When the autopilot overshoots a target it's typically a sign that the Counter Rudder Gain is set too low. To improve, increase the High Speed or Low Speed Counter Rudder Gain (depending on the boat speed at which the overshoot occurs). The Garmin Helm Control (GHC™ autopilot controller) will need to be put into Dealer Mode before accessing Autopilot Tuning for the rudder gain settings. If the vessel a compatible Garmin chartplotter these settings can also be made from within the Autopilot settings on the chartplotter.

Dealer Mode

From the GHC™ 20 autopilot controller: Press Menu > Setup > System Information > Press and hold the center soft key until Dealer Mode displays, press the back button twice.

The GHC™ 50 autopilot controller has Autopilot Setup and does not require extra steps to access Dealer Mode.
