Replacing the Battery in a nuvi 500 and 550

Many Garmin automotive devices, including the nuvi 500 and 550, have a removable battery.

To check for availability of replacement batteries:

  1. Go to Garmin.com 
  2. Type in your device name (ex. nuvi 500) in the upper right corner 'Search Garmin.com'
  3. Click on the search result for your device
  4. On this product page for your device, click on the Accessories tab
  5. Click on Batteries

The battery products will be listed if available.
