Radar Error Code on a Garmin® Chartplotter
If a Radar Error Code is received on a chartplotter, follow radar troubleshooting to try resolving the issue.
NOTE: Radar Error Codes and their meanings are for internal use. The troubleshooting steps listed below are for troubleshooting all Radar Errors.
Ensure the proper amount of voltage is being applied to the radar. Follow the instructions in the Installation Manual of the radar for more information on power requirements
If using a radar requiring a voltage converter, to test the voltage converter, measure voltage in then measure voltage out. There should not be more than a three volt drop
Verify the Garmin® Marine Network Cable is properly connected without any corrosion. A standard ethernet cable can be used temporarily for troubleshooting purposes. If possible, it is best to test with a known working Garmin Marine Network or ethernet cable going directly to the chartplotter not going through a network port expander such as a GMS™ 10
Ensure the software of the chartplotter and radar are up-to-date. For more information on updating the software, see Related Content below
If the above troubleshooting steps are followed and the radar is still creating an Error Code message, a replacement or repair may be needed.
