Dual Grid Coordinates on the Foretrex 601, 701, 801, and 901

The Foretrex® 607, 701 Ballistic Edition, 801 and 901 Ballistic Edition wrist-mounted GPS navigators support dual grid format for when two sets of coordinates are needed. Dual grid gives you your current GPS coordinates in two different position formats (e.g. latitude and longitude and MGRS) from your device format settings. Dual grid locations can be helpful in the following situations:

  • Military Operations

  • Any application you may need two different formats of coordinates

    • EXAMPLE: Dual grid can be used for comparing latitude and longitude coordinates to map grid coordinates.

Changing Position Format Settings

  1. Press PAGE until you reach the Menu page.

  2. Select SETUP.

  3. Select UNITS.

  4. Select POSITION FORMAT, then select an option from the list.

    • NOTE: This also changes the default position format for waypoints.

  5. Select POSITION FORMAT 2, then select an option from the list.


Adding Dual Grid Coordinates as Data Fields

Two different location data fields can be displayed on the trip computer page, LOCATION1 and LOCATION2. The following steps can be used to customize where these data fields are displayed on the trip computer page.

  1. Press PAGE until you reach the Trip Computer page.

  2. Press ENTER.

  3. Select CHANGE FIELDS.

  4. Press UP or DOWN to scroll to the first data field you wish to change.

  5. Press ENTER, then select LOCATION1 from the list.

  6. Select a coordinate format from the list.

    • NOTE: This also changes the default position format for waypoints.

  7. Press UP or DOWN to scroll to the second data field you wish to change.

  8. Press ENTER, then select LOCATION2 from the list.

  9. Select a coordinate format from the list.

  10. Press PAGE when finished. Your changes will be saved automatically.
