Unlocking TrailForks maps
Some models of Edge require the TrailForks Connect IQ™ app to unlock and update the maps on the device, as noted in the list above. If you receive the message "An error occurred while installing the update" this usually indicates that the TrailForks maps haven't been unlocked yet. To unlock the TrailForks maps:
Power on the Edge.
Open the Garmin Connect™ app on your phone and ensure that the Edge is connected.
Open the Connect IQ™ store menu of the Edge.
Edge 530/540: access the Menu then select Connect IQ.
Edge 830/1030 Plus: tap "IQ" on the home screen.
Edge 840/1040: select
then select Connect IQ.
Select TrailForks.
You will now be prompted to open the Garmin Connect app on your phone.
On your phone, you will receive a prompt to authorize TrailForks.
Select Authorize and follow the prompts on your phone to create a TrailForks account or sign in to an existing TrailForks account.
On the Edge, return to the TrailForks app and open the app settings:
Edge 530/540: press and hold
(top right)
Edge 830/840/1030 Plus/1040: select
Login (if prompted), then select Unlock Map.
After completing these steps you will be able to proceed with updating the TrailForks maps using Garmin Express. If you continue to experience issues after following these steps, see the following for further assistance: Garmin Express not Working for Updates and Downloads.
1Requires the TrailForks Connect IQ app to unlock and update the maps. See Unlocking TrailForks Maps for details.
