Marine Handheld and Watch Compatibility With BlueChart g3 or LakeVu g3 Maps
LakeVü™ g3 charts and BlueChart® g3 charts bring more coverage details for use on the water. A software update may be required for the g3 maps to work as expected on a marine handheld or watch. The chart may still be useable if purchased without a software update, however, some features will only work correctly if the compatible software version has been loaded onto the handheld or watch.

Marine Handheld and Watch g3 Compatibility
At this time, only the marine handhelds and watches listed below are compatible with BlueChart g3 and LakeVü g3 maps and some devices will require a software update to ensure compatibility. To update the handheld or watch software, use Garmin Express™ software.
NOTE: HomePort™ software and BaseCamp™ software will not work with g3 charts.
Required Software Version for Handhelds and Watches
The following list of handhelds and watches using g3 charts will provide essential details. The Vision and Ultra versions of BlueChart g3 and LakeVü g3 mapping are not recommended and should not be purchased for a marine handheld or watch. The following features do not work on handheld or on watches.
Auto Guidance+
Depth range shading
1' foot contours
Shallow water shading
Raster charts
Relief Shading
The handheld or watch must be at the software version listed or newer, as applicable, to be compatible with g3 charts. For downloadable charts, ensure adequate space is available.
