How do I send my Android crash logs to Aviation Support?

If an occasion arises when Garmin Pilot running on an Android device stops unexpectedly, it can be helpful to have the crash logs that are generated by the device itself for troubleshooting purposes. Unlike the debug logs that are generated inside the app, the Android crash logs capture information about what was happening outside the application on the operating system at the time of failure.


1. Go to Settings for your Android portable device.


2. Depending on which device you are working with, scroll to the bottom of the choices and click on About Phone or About Tablet.


3. Go to Software Information, then tap on the words Build Number 7 times, which will enable developer mode.


4. A message will appear at the bottom of the device: "Developer mode has been turned on."


5. Go to the option marked Developer Options. On tablets, it will be on the left side of the screen.


6. Tap on Bug report.


7. Select Full Report.


8. Press Report.


9. Once the button Report is pressed, you will have 30 - 45 seconds to reproduce the crash error. 


10. After reproducing the crash error, wait 30 seconds, then go back to the home screen of the device.


11. On the home screen, swipe down from top to bottom, and you will see Bug report # ___ created.


12. Also, please include the Device Identifier code inside of Garmin Pilot. To find it, go to Settings > General > About > Support > under the section Support Identifiers, copy and paste the Device Identifier value.


13. Mail the attachments to aviation.support@garmin.com. Please make sure to add ATTN: (Representative's Name) in the subject line.
