Displaying Video from a Garmin Marine Chartplotter on a Television or Marine Monitor

Some Garmin chartplotters are able to output video to an external monitor. The following series are the only devices capable of outputting video:

• GPSMAP® 3xxx chartplotters

• GPSMAP® 4xxx chartplotters

• GPSMAP®  5xxx chartplotters

• GPSMAP® 6xxx chartplotters

• GPSMAP® 70xx chartplotters / GPSMAP® 72xx chartplotters

• GPSMAP® 74xx chartplotters / GPSMAP® 76xx chartplotters

• GPSMAP® 80xx chartplotters / GPSMAP® 82xx chartplotters 

• GPSMAP® 86xx chartplotters / GPSMAP® 84xx chartplotters

• GPSMAP® 9000 chartplotters

To display the video, the external monitor will need to either have a VGA input using a 15 pin connector, or DVI input in the case of the GPSMAP® 7400 series and GPSMAP® 7600 series and GPSMAP®  8000 series, or HDMI for the GPSMAP® 8600, GPSMAP® 8400, and GPSMAP® 9000 series. To achieve the best visual quality, the monitor will need to be compatible with multi-sync and will need to have the following resolutions available, depending on which device is connected to it:

* The GPSMAP® 3xxx chartplotters / GPSMAP® 4xxx chartplotters / GPSMAP® 5xxx chartplotters  an use the same video output cable. This Audio/Video cable should come packaged with the chartplotters. If a replacement Audio/Video cable is needed, one can be purchased by clicking here.

** The GPSMAP® 6xxx chartplotters / GPSMAP® 70xx chartplotters / GPSMAP® 72xx chartplotters use a different cable than the other devices. This cable is discontinued and no longer available.

*** The GPSMAP® 74xx chartplotters / GPSMAP®  76xx chartplotters / GPSMAP® 80xx  chartplotters / GPSMAP® 82xx chartplotters utilize DVI output and a DVI-I or DVI-D cable can be used to link the chartplotters with a monitor. Garmin sells a DVI-D cable in 6 ft, 15 ft, and 35 ft lengths.
