The Heading of a TR-1 Autopilot Not Matching the GPS Heading While Navigating
If the TR-1 Autopilot heading does not match your GPS heading, consider the following troubleshooting measures:
Perform the Set North procedure again for the autopilot. Refer to the Owner's Manual of the autopilot for more information on how to perform the Set North procedure. The Autopilot requires the North to be set before it can perform any GPS routes
Ensure the chartplotter is setup to output the GPS position information over NMEA 0183. The chartplotter will need to output NMEA 0183 sentences RMB and RMC. These are the only two sentences required by the autopilot. Unnecessary sentences that are turned on may cause the autopilot to drop out of navigation mode. Refer to the chartplotter's Owner's Manual for instructions on how to setup NMEA 0183
Ensure the autopilot is receiving the NMEA data from the chartplotter. Ensure the wiring is correct. For information on wiring the two together, refer to the respective Owner's Manuals.
If these troubleshooting tips do not resolve the heading discrepancies, it is advised that you contact Marine Product Support for additional assistance.
