Troubleshooting the Garmin Dog Widget with a Compatible Watch and Alpha 10
The Alpha 10 has the ability to transmit dog tracking information to compatible outdoor watches.1
Devices transmitting dog tracking information can transmit to multiple devices at one time. For example, the Alpha 10 can transmit to a fenix 6 and Instinct at the same time when withing 30 feet. If the feature is not working properly with the broadcast mode/remote view compatible devices, please use the troubleshooting steps below to try and resolve the problem.
Troubleshooting Steps
- Ensure all devices are on the latest software version
- View Related Content at the bottom of the page for instructions
- Transmitting device and receiving device must be within 15 feet of each other (closer is recommended for testing and troubleshooting)
- Ensure you are actively communicating with a compatible dog collar on the Alpha 10
- Ensure only the two devices that should be communicating are on (power off all other transmitting handhelds)
- The handheld device always Remote View enabled
- Turn off and then on the transmitting and receiving device to ensure they are no longer looking for any previously paired devices
- Forget the previously paired handheld to ensure the watch is no looking for a different device
- Dog tracking widget on the watch:
- Press the Start/Stop button
- Select Forget Transmitter
- Give the widget a few minutes to try a pick up the handheld
- Dog tracking widget on the watch:
- Turn off and then on the transmitting and receiving device to ensure they are no longer looking for any previously paired devices
- If other compatible receiving devices are available, try transmitting to them to see if they will pick up the signal.
