Venu Sq: "Cannot Install Updated Software" Message in Garmin Express

If you encounter the message  "Cannot Install Updated Software Due to the Device Memory Being Full." when updating a Venu® Sq watch with our Garmin Express™ program, walk through one of the options below to resolve the issue.

  1. Disconnect the watch from the computer and select "Yes" on the display if prompted to install available updates. After installation, reconnect the watch to the computer and sync with Garmin Express to download any remaining updates. Repeat this process until Garmin Express shows "You're Up To Date!".

  2. Pair your watch to the Garmin Connect™ app  to receive software updates automatically when they become available. For help, see: null.

  3. Delete language files not being used to free up space on the watch.  Select your computer operating system below to reveal steps to follow:


Windows Instructions

  1. Connect the Venu SQ to your computer.

  2. Open Garmin Express.

  3. Open your File Explorer on the computer using one of the following methods. 

    • Press the Windows Key icon and the letter 'E' at the same time.

    • Select the search bar on your task bar then type 'File Explorer' and select that program. 

  4. Select This PC on the left side panel.

  5. Open your Venu SQ.

  6. Open the GARMIN folder.

  7. Open the Text folder.

  8. Select the files you wish to delete (you will not find the English file as it is hidden).

  9. Delete the selected files. 

  10. Once this process is done you can sync to Garmin Express and it should be able to update normally. 


Mac Instructions

  1. Connect the Venu SQ to your computer.

  2. Open Garmin Express.

  3. Open a Finder window on your computer using one of the following methods.

    • Select the Finder icon from your Dock.

    • Select the Spotlight icon in the top right, type 'Finder' and select that program.

  4. Select the Venu SQ under Devices on the left.

  5. Open the Garmin folder.

  6. Open the Text folder.

  7. Select the files you wish to delete (you will not find the English file as it is hidden).

  8. Drag the selected files to Trash.

  9. Empty the Trash.

  10. Once this process is done you can sync to Garmin Express and it should be able to update normally.
