Pairing an inReach to an Overlander

Pairing an inReach® satellite communicator with an Overlander® GPS navigator gives the capability to send and receive inReach messages, trigger an SOS, request weather, and start and stop inReach remote tracking - all from the Overlander navigator.

NOTE: In order to pair your inReach device to the Overlander navigator, the Overlander navigator must be up to date and connected to Wi-Fi. For instructions on updating before pairing, see - Wireless Map and Software Update Instructions.

Pairing an inReach Explorer®, inReach Explorer+, inReach SE®, inReach SE+, or inReach Mini Communicator With the Overlander Navigator

IMPORTANT: An inReach cannot be paired to both an Overlander navigator and a mobile device at the same time.

  1. From the Home screen, touch .
    • If is not on the Home screen, it can be found under Explore in the App Drawer.
  2. Touch Connect Now.
    Connect Now or Continue Screen
  3. Touch Connect.

  4. Power on the inReach device.
  5. On the inReach device, select Setup or Settings from the main menu.
    NOTE: On the inReach Mini, press OK to open the main menu.
  6. Select Bluetooth.
  7. Select Pair Device or Pair inReach.
  8. Select Pair Device or Pair inReach again, if prompted.
  9. On the Overlander®, select the inReach device once it appears in the list under Available Devices.
    NOTE: It may take 1-2 minutes for the device to appear in the list.
  10. Log in using the explore.garmin.com account credentials.
  11. Select Log On.

Pairing an inReach Mini 2 or Other Handheld inReach Device With the Overlander Navigator

IMPORTANT: An inReach handheld cannot be paired to both an Overlander and a mobile device at the same time.

  1. From the Home screen, touch .
    • If is not on the Home screen, it can be found under Explore in the App Drawer.
  2. Touch Continue.
    Connect Now or Connect
  3. Read and agree to EULA, and touch Next.
  4. When prompted, touch Not Now or Sync My Data.
  5. Log in using the explore.garmin.com account credentials , touch Next.
  6. Touch Devices.
  7. Touch Pair Device.
  8. Touch Add Device.
  9. Power on the inReach device and enable Bluetooth pairing. Select the device for steps:

    Alpha® 200i Dog Tracking Handheld

    1. From the main menu, select Setup.
    2. Select Bluetooth.
    3. Select Continue.

    GPSMAP® 66i, 67i, 86i, or 86sci Outdoor Handheld

    1. From the main menu , select Setup.
    2. Select Bluetooth.
    3. Select Continue.

    inReach Mini 2 Communicator

    1. Press OK to open the main menu.
    2. Select Settings.
    3. Select Phone.
    4. Select Pair Phone.

    Montana® 700i, 710i, 750i or 760i Outdoor Handheld

    1. Touch Home.
    2. Touch Setup.
    3. Touch Pair Phone.
    4. Touch Pair.
  10. On the Overlander navigator, select the inReach device once it appears.
    NOTE: It may take 1-2 minutes for the device to appear in the list.
  11. Select your device in the list.
  12. The inReach device will show a passkey number. Enter the passkey on the Overlander navigator and touch Ok.
  13. Touch Continue.
