Adjusting the Brightness on a G1000
Check that there is nothing blocking the photoelectric cells on each display, and that the protective glass is clean. See below for the location of the photoelectric cells on the bezel of the G1000®:
The photoelectric cells will be on diagonally opposite ends of the bezels. However, they may be positioned on the upper left and lower right quadrants of the bezels instead of what is shown above.
If the display is very bright, check the brightness level/knob on the aircraft and make sure it is not turned to dim. The brightness knob can make the display go very bright if turned down all the way.
If the display is very dim and does not turn bright until after engine startup, there may be a resistor that has gone bad within the display and will need to go to a service center for repair.
