Difference Between Outdoor Handhelds That Have Model Number XXX/XXXt

Garmin recognizes the convenience of preloaded maps and has elected to provide certain series with models that come with a preloaded topographic map. Models with preloaded topographic mapping typically have a "t" within their model name. Models that do not include topographic mapping usually will not have the "t". However, there are exceptions.

Examples of handhelds with preloaded topographic mapping:

  • Alpha® 100
  • Alpha® 200
  • Alpha® 300
  • eTrex® Touch 35t
  • Montana® 650t

  • GPSMAP® 62st
  • GPSMAP® 64st
  • GPSMAP® 66st
  • Rino® 655t
  • Rino® 755t

To confirm specific features for a device, such as topographic mapping, visit the product page by selecting a device from our Hiking units and click the Specs tab for additional information about the device; this is an important step as some devices like the Alpha 100 handheld are preloaded with topographic mapping but do not indicate this in the model name.
