User Limit - Cannot Add Additional Users to a Consumer Garmin Explore Account

Due to changes in privacy laws — Garmin inReach® subscribers with a consumer subscription plan can no longer add new users to their Garmin Explore™ account. At this time, inReach subscribers with these consumer subscription plans that currently have multiple users will retain those existing sub users in their Garmin Explore account. However, the ability to add any new users has been removed.

Solutions for Businesses or Organizations

If you are operating as a business or professional organization1 and you need to add additional users to your Garmin Explore account, a Professional inReach subscription is required. Switching to a Professional account will make managing multiple users and devices easier and open the door to communication and tracking features that improve your inReach experience.

Solutions for Individuals and Families

If you are not a business or professional organization, an alternative is to create a new individual inReach consumer subscription account for each additional user – provided each user will have a device attached to the individual account. You cannot switch or share inReach devices with active subscriptions between accounts. Cancelling an active subscription may incur additional charges.

Currently, Garmin does not offer options for family plans or groups of individuals on inReach consumer subscription plans. The best option for families or groups with consumer subscription plans is to create a unique Garmin Explore account for each user1 and assign an inReach device to each individual with an inReach consumer subscription plan.

Individual users may have more than 1 device on your Garmin Explore account with an active inReach consumer subscription plan; however, you may only assign 1 device for use at any time.
