Garmin Explore App Automatically Syncing Device Notifications on Android
The Garmin Explore™ app will notify you when processes are being run by it in the background of your Android™ phone or tablet. These types of notifications are used for security purposes. If you are receiving a notification stating, "Automatically Sync Devices: Tap to limit background syncing," it means that the application is completing background processes on your phone or tablet, such as syncing between your Garmin® devices and the Garmin Explore app.
Turning Off Background Syncing
Background syncing for the Garmin Explore app can be turned off to stop the notification from appearing. However, turning off background syncing will stop the Garmin Explore app from syncing with your Garmin devices while the application is not open and in the foreground of your phone.
Open the Garmin Explore app.
Select the profile icon in the top left.
Select App Settings.
Select App Permissions.
Select Manage Permissions.
- Select Mobile data & Wi-Fi®.
- Touch Background data to toggle it off.
NOTE: If your device is paired with the Garmin Connect™ app while the background behavior setting is disabled in the Garmin Explore app, data may sync into the Garmin Connect app. When data syncs into the Garmin Connect app first, it will not sync into the Garmin Explore app later.
