Log Track to Data Card for Older Garmin Outdoor Handhelds
Log Track to Data Card is a feature available on some older Garmin handhelds that records the current track log to the microSD card in addition to the handheld's internal memory. Advanced users can utilize this option to record a large number of track points (depending on the capacity of the microSD card). Track logs on the card are .gpx GPS position data files and are not used by your handheld.
Enabling Log Track to Data Card
- Press Menu twice to reach the Main Menu.
- Select Tracks.
- Select Setup.
- Select Data Card Setup.
- Select Log Track to Data Card.
- To view the amount of card storage space available: Press Menu then select Card Info.
- To delete these logs from the card: Highlight individual logs and press Enter or use Delete All to clear the entire list.
- To view or backup the .gpx files: Connect the device to a computer with USB cable, then enable Mass Storage under Setup > Interface. See Related for using BaseCamp™ to view or backup the files.
A (yyyymmdd).gpx file should appear in the Data Card Tracks list below. This file is a continuous compilation of all track data for the indicated date. As long as this feature is enabled, a new file is created for each day you use the handheld. Recording continues until the card is full. Because these track logs share card space with mapping data, space for additional map storage is reduced.
IMPORTANT: Do not remove the microSD card from the handheld while recording a track as this can result in the data becoming corrupted.
