Expected Battery Life of inReach SE/Explorer

There are a few settings that noticeably contribute to overall battery performance when using an inReach® satellite communicator. Depending on if the settings are enabled or disabled, and the selected intervals, the expected battery life will be affected. Based on usage, these settings should be adjusted before going out into the field.

  • Paired with Phone

  • Log Interval - The Log Interval determines how often the inReach records a log of its GPS position to store internally. This can be changed in the device settings

  • Send Interval - The Send Interval determines how often your device will send track points with the current GPS position, elevation, speed and heading of the device to your LiveTrack™ page or MapShare™ page. This can be changed in the device settings.

  • Extended Tracking - To conserve battery life, this setting disables several features:

    • Bluetooth

    • Message Listens

    • Navigation - inReach Explorer only

    • Track Logging - inReach Explorer only

Additional information on these settings and how to adjust them can be found in the Owner Manual1 and in Related below.
