GPSMAP Series Chartplotter Freezing on the Garmin Splash Screen

When powering on the GPSMAP series, the chartplotter freezes on the Garmin splash screen. It is generally due to an issue with the internal operating software of the device. The message "Recovery Loader Error" may display on the device. An update to the software using the Forced Update procedure may resolve the issue. Another source of the message Recovery Loader Ready is caused by a short or damage in the Gamin Marine Network cable or power back-fed from a device that should be connected using a POE Isolator (Power Over Ethernet). 

Before performing a Forced Update:

  1. Power off the device

  2. Disconnect all network connections

  3. Power on the device
