Can I Still Use My Garmin Device While the Battery Is Charging?
Charge via USB Port
The Garmin Charge™ Power Pack and some third party power packs feature a USB port, allowing you to charge any compatible Garmin device on the go by connecting it using the correct USB power/data charging cable. This accessory can not be used to transfer data and can only be used to charge the device.
Garmin devices may react to the external power pack differently while they are in the process of recording activities. Most will continue to record an activity while charging. It is important to note the following for some models:
Watches that feature an optical heart rate sensor will not be able to record heart rate while charging.
Some devices may end a recorded activity, reboot but then offer full functionality.
Older devices may end a recorded activity and go into a charging mode.
NOTE: Devices that have the option to "resume activity later" should avoid charging via a computer while in the Resume Later state. Charging via computer will send the device into mass storage mode, which will end the activity, and you will not be able to resume the activity later.
Charge via Contact Pins
Garmin devices that feature electrical contact points can be charged by the Garmin Charge Power Pack when using Garmin's out-front mount. For details on using this mount with the pack refer to the installation instructions.
