Using AutoLocate on a Garmin Fitness Device
Occasionally older Edge® or Forerunner® devices may have trouble acquiring a satellite signal. This may be due to corrupted satellite information. Performing an AutoLocate will clear previous GPS data and allow the device to reacquire the satellite information.
You May Need to Perform an AutoLocate in the Following Circumstances:
Device has not been used in over two weeks.
Device has traveled more than 150 miles between satellite acquisitions.
Distance or speed data appear to be inaccurate.
Devices That Support AutoLocate:
Edge® 205 | Edge® 305 Cycling Computers
Forerunner® 101 | Forerunner® 201 | Forerunner® 205 | Forerunner® 301 | Forerunner® 305 Watches
Forerunner® 310XT | Forerunner® 910XT
To Perform an AutoLocate:
Ensure device is powered off.
Press and hold the DOWN button.
Press and release the POWER button.
Wait 30 seconds.
Release the DOWN button.
After AutoLocate is performed on the device, allow 15 to 20 minutes to acquire satellites with a open view of the sky.
