How Can I Tell Whether the Battery in My Automotive Device is Charging?

Note: The device is designed to be plugged in at all times. Even if the device is fully charged, it may not last on battery power alone for very long and the battery icon could become low fairly quickly.

For instructions on charging an automotive device, see the device's owner's manual

The battery indicator will display in the top right corner of the Where To?/Main screen on your device.  Select the following options for images on how this will look and details.

Lightning Bolt

On some models, including Garmin Dash Cams with the exception of the Garmin Dash Cam™ Mini, Garmin Dash Cam™ Mini 2, and Garmin Dash Cam™ Tandem, the battery icon will have a lightning bolt in it, which indicates it is charging.

Missing Battery Icon

On some models, the battery icon will disappear when charging.

Fully Charged

The only way to determine if the device is fully charged is to have it unplugged and on the main menu.

On some models, the battery icon will be completely green when fully charged.

On other models, the battery level indicator will be white instead of green.

Mostly Charged

On some models, the battery icon will be mostly green.

Running Low

On some models, the battery icon will be yellow.

On other models, the battery level indicator will be white instead of yellow.

Nearly Empty

On some models, the battery icon will be red.

On other models, the battery level indicator will be white instead of red.
