Compatibility of Garmin Radar Devices and Garmin Chartplotters with Third-Party Devices

Garmin chartplotters use a proprietary communication protocol to communicate with a radar. This protocol is not available to other manufacturers and therefore, will prevent any third-party radar devices from functioning with Garmin chartplotters. Only Garmin manufactured radar devices will be able to communicate with a Garmin chartplotter.  Likewise, a Garmin manufactured radar will be unable to communicate to a third-party GPS device.  Radar devices are manufacture specific devices.
