Maps Fail to Install From a DVD on MacOS 10.11 and Higher
When attempting to install a map from a disc to a Mac with MacOS 10.11 or higher, the installation may fail with the following error message: "The installation failed. The installer could not install the software. The installer could not install the software because there was no software found to install." When this occurs, the maps must be installed using the OS X Terminal application.
Ensure that MapManager and MapInstall are installed and up to date.
Insert the disc into the DVD drive.
Open Finder.
Select Go in the menu bar.
Select Utilities.
Open Terminal.
In the Terminal window, type open -a "Garmin MapManager" /Volumes/*/*.gmap
Be sure to include the space after "open".
Select Return.
Select Install.
Alternative instructions:
Complete Steps 1 and 2 above.
In the menu bar along the top of the screen on your Mac, select the magnifying glass icon, also known as Spotlight Search.
If the Spotlight Search icon isn’t present, use the keyboard shortcut of Command + Space bar instead
In the Search box, type Terminal and select Enter.
Continue with Steps 7 through 9 above.
Once the installation is complete, the maps will be available in Garmin applications such as BaseCamp™ and MapInstall™.
