Add, Edit, or Delete a Waypoint Category for an Automotive Device

Many Garmin automotive devices allow saved favorites to be organized into categories. These devices will support up to 200 categories with a maximum of 20 categories assigned per waypoint. Categories will also appear in alphabetical order. For more details on saving locations as favorites, review the owner's manual for your device.

The device will require at least twelve saved locations in order for categories to display in the favorites locations.

Note: Categories cannot be deleted as a group, and category names cannot be changed once created. To delete a category, remove all locations from that particular category. To change a category name, the category must be deleted and re-created with the desired name.

To create a new category:

1. Touch Where To?

2. Touch Favorites

3. If necessary, touch All Favorites

4. Touch a favorite

5. Touch the menu button

6. Touch Edit

7. Touch Categories

8. Touch the plus icon. If there are no categories on the device, this step will be skipped.

9.Enter the new category name and touch Done

If the favorite selected in step 4 is to be added to the new category, then place a check mark next to the newly created category if one is not already present.

To change a category for a saved location:

1. Follow steps 1-7 above
2. Make the desired category selections
   • To add a location to a category, touch the category to add a check mark
   • To remove a location from a category, touch the check mark to remove it
3. Touch Back or the back arrow

Repeat the above steps as needed.
