Using the GHP 10 Autopilot without connecting it to a tach source from the engines

Garmin strongly recommends that a tachometer source be connected in order to scale rudder activity to levels appropriate for the current boat speed. Some boats, that cannot reach planing speeds, may not need to have the tach wires connected.

In instances where the tach information is not available for the GHP 10 autopilot, with the latest operating software installed in the GHP 10, you can choose to use GPS speed as a speed source option instead of the tach information. For instructions on how to update the GHP 10 autopilot, please refer to the related content.
