If the battery for your Rino® 650, 650t, 655t, 750 or 755t outdoor handheld is not charging at all, fails to charge completely, or appears to charge but then does not power on, it is important to ensure the device software is up to date. Follow the steps below for updating your Rino handheld.

Follow the on-screen instructions to install the update.
Eject the Rino from the computer.
After unplugged, you may have to power the Rino on and select Yes or Install to finish the update.
If your Rino will not power on under battery power to complete the software update, use the following steps:
Plug in your Rino handheld using the Garmin Rino AC adapter cable.1
If the device does not turn on automatically, press and hold Power for 1-2 seconds.
Wait for the update to complete.
Leave the Rino plugged into the AC adapter to charge to 100%.
Press and hold Power for 1-2 seconds to put the Rino in charging mode for a faster charging time.
If there is no sign of charging after completing both sets of steps, see below.
What if My Rino Handheld Still Does Not Charge?
If the battery was very depleted, it may take up to one hour for the device to show signs of charging.
If the battery stops charging partway through, disconnect the Rino from the AC adapter and then plug it back in. It should now complete the charging process.
If this does not resolve the charging issue, a new battery can be purchased. The Lithium-ion Battery Pack (Rino) is compatible with the Rino 650, 650t, 655t, 750 and 755t handhelds.
1 It is important to use the included charging cable to ensure the Rino gets the correct amount of power for charging.
