Dog Continues to Bark While Wearing a BarkLimiter Series Device
The science behind bark behavior training is complex. Extensive research has been conducted to create the AutoRise function that automatically increases intensity as the dog continues to bark. While this feature works for most dogs, some dogs learn to manipulate the system so they receive minimal correction.
Basic troubleshooting steps should be performed to prevent common issues from keeping your dog from learning when it is proper to bark.
- If the dog shows no reaction to the BarkLimiter™ bark detection collar, it is possible that the collar may be too loose to provide consistent stimulation. Consistent stimulation is necessary to provide consistent training, which leads to consistent results.
- If your dog is still failing to respond to the collar, manually set the stimulation level for your dog to ensure he receives the correct level of stimulation on a consistent basis.
- Reference instructions on manually setting the stimulation level in the the owner’s manual.
- Allow up to one month to confirm the dog is not responding to collar correction.
In a few rare instances, the BarkLimiter may fail to properly detect your dog’s specific bark. Garmin is constantly seeking to improve its product lines and is eager to address any issues with its products. If the collar has been fit properly, and the manual levels have been tried on your dog (as described in the owner’s manual) the collar may need to be repaired or replaced.
