Getting Started With Applied Ballistics on a Foretrex 701

Applied Ballistics is a third-party feature on compatible Garmin® products that offers customized aiming solutions for long-range shooting based on your rifle characteristics, bullet characteristics, and various environmental conditions. You can enter parameters including wind, temperature, humidity, range, and firing direction.

For additional information on how Applied Ballistics works and in-depth support, we recommend visiting the Applied Ballistics page. For all other information, see your owner's manual. Your owner's manual will contain information on profiles, calibrating, pairing, and more.

Unlocking or Upgrading Your Applied Ballistics Software

The Foretrex® 701 Ballistic Edition comes preloaded with Applied Ballistics Elite® Solver. Activation is not required.

Adding a Compatible Ballistic Sensor

To pair a Garmin product with Applied Ballistics to a rangefinder or wind sensor, first put the compatible sensor in AB External pairing mode. Use the sensor's owner's manual for instructions.

After placing the compatible sensor in pairing mode, search for the sensor on your Garmin. For a list of compatible sensors and pairing them, see:

Ballistic Profiles

Profiles allow you to customize gun properties, bullet properties, units of measure, and output fields. You can change between profiles, edit existing profiles and create additional profiles. Below are some of the options available to you, see your owner's manual for more details.

Adding a Profile

You can add multiple profiles to quickly change between your preferences when switching between guns, bullets, or outputs.

Changing Profiles

Once your profiles are set and your sensors are paired, you are ready to go shooting.
