What is Automatic Interval Categorization?

When going for a run, select watches can generate intervals by utilizing the lap button. This can be helpful for instances when you did not create a custom interval workout.

Watches compatible with the Automatic Interval Categorization feature will categorize your laps as warm-up, run, or rest periods once the activity is uploaded to Garmin Connect™. Pace will become a factor to determine your intervals.

How Do I Start an Interval Workout on My Watch?

The following steps should work for most watches. For specific instructions for your watch, see “Starting an Interval Workout” in your owner's manual.

For select models, you can enable Open Repeats under the Run activity profile to track intervals on your watch. 

1. Select the Run profile on your Watch.
   

2. Select Training or press MENU then select Training. 

3. Select Quick Workout.

4. Select Intervals. 

5. Select Open Repeats.

6. Confirm if you want to start with a warm-up or not.

From here, use the BACK/LAP button to transition between interval and rest periods.
