Sending an SMS Message to a Satellite Phone
SMS Messages can be sent from an inReach® satellite communicator to an SMS enabled Iridium device, or satellite phone (Spot X as an example) the same way that it sends messages to any other phone.
For Iridium satellite phones there is one difference that instead of a country code, there is an Iridium calling code instead. The Iridium calling code for the satellite phone will be either +8816 or +8817, which would then be followed by the eight-digit number of the satellite phone.
This would take the form of: +881600000000
Satellite phone numbers can be added to a Contact in an inReach account. The eight-digit number for the satellite phone would need to be added to the Mobile Phone field, and the appropriate Iridium calling code would need to be selected from the Select a Calling Code drop-down list. For how to create and edit contacts, see Related.
