Checking the inReach Mini Dive Case Hinge Pin

The lower hinge pin can fallout in some inReach® Mini handheld dive cases, causing the lid to detach from the body of the dive case. To resolve this, replace the lower hinge pin with a new, two-sided hinge pin included in a service kit available from Garmin.

Confirming the Issue Affects Your Dive Case

Use a paper clip to push out the lower hinge pin one from the dive case hinge:

If the hinge pin moves easily or falls out, you should obtain a service kit to replace the pin. The following information will be needed:

  • Serial number of your inReach Mini

  • The email address used for the Mini registration 


Fixing the Issue

  1. Obtain a no-cost service kit S00-01662-00.

    • Available from your local Dealer

    • Use our online order form (US and UK only)

      1. Use the appropriate link to access the online order form for your region:

      2. Enter your inReach Mini handheld's serial number.

        NOTE: Letters must be capitalized.

      3. Enter the email address that was used when registering your inReach Mini handheld through the Garmin Express program.

        TIP: This information can be found in Garmin Express under Tools & Content > Info

      4. Select Save & Continue.

      5. Fill out the remaining fields when prompted to complete the order form. If you do not receive any additional prompts at this point, ensure that your inReach Mini handheld has been registered through Garmin Express program and that no lowercase letters were entered in the serial number field, then refresh the page to try again.

  2. Use a paper clip to push out the lower hinge pin from the dive case hinge.

  3. Insert the new, two-sided pin into the lower holes of the dive case hinge.

  4. Use two screwdrivers to tighten both ends of the pin.

    Rotate Screwdrivers Clockwise

  5. Confirm the lid is securely attached to the body of the dive case.
