Tracking in the Alpha App

In the Alpha® app you can live track from the map to see track details or use the Pro View for a more simple tracking view, see - Tracking with Pro View. When the Alpha app is paired with a compatible dog tracking device the track is displayed on the map, as long as there is an activity or track being recorded on the Garmin device. 

Requirements for Tracking to Function

• Location Services need to be enabled on the mobile device.

• Garmin device must be paired and remain connected to the mobile device.

• Garmin device must have started an activity, navigation, or is actively recording a track.

• Both the Alpha Mobile app and the dog tracking device needs to have acquired a GPS position.

• The mobile device on which the Alpha Mobile app is installed meets the minimum system requirements.

• The dog tracking device is on the latest software version available.

• Collars to be viewed are on, active, have a GPS position, and be visible on the associated dog tracking handheld.

Line Display Settings

Line display settings is information that will show for the tracked device on the map. To edit these settings.

1. Select Map .

2. Select Map Layers .

3. Select Map Settings.

4. Select Line Display Settings. 

5. Options for display.

   1. Show Names - Shows the dogs name on the map for position. 

   2. Show Distances - Displays the distance the dog is from you.

   3. Show Status - Shows if the dog is moving, on point or treed.

   4. Speed Indicator - Shows as a thicker track line when the dog has met the speed requirements.  

Note: Line Display Settings is only available when a compatible handheld is paired in the Alpha app. 

Customizing Track length

In the Alpha app you can set the track lengths to only be viewable for specific time lengths.

1. 1. Select the Map .

   2. Select Track Length.

   3. Track length options: None, 1 minute, 10 minutes, 30 minutes, 1 hour, 6 hours, 12 hours, All. 
      

Hide Older Tracks

You can also hide any older tracks to clear your map. 

1. Select the Map .

2. Select Track Length .

3. Toggle on Hide Older Tracks.

4. To clear all tracks on the map, select Clear Map.

Track Replay

Track Replay can be done with any current tracks shown on the map. 

1. Open the Alpha app. 

2. Select Map

3. Select

4. Select 

Track replay will open at the bottom of the map. Adjust the handle to replay the tracks on the map.

Saved Track Playback

To view a saved track playback in the Alpha app:

1. Open the Alpha app.

2. Select Hunt.

3. Select Library. 

4. Select Saved Tracks.

5. Select the track you would like to view.

6. Select Playback.

Note: The Pro 550 Plus and Alpha 10 handhelds can not save tracks in the Alpha app.
