Understanding the LED Colors on the zumo R1 Radar
The zūmo™ R1 Radar Motorcycle Radar has a status LED light on the right Indicator that displays different colors depending on the device status. Below is a breakdown of the different LED meanings.

Solid Green
The device is operating normally - Alerts are active, and vehicles are shown on the zūmo™ Radar app or connected zūmo® XT2 or Tread® 2 GPS navigator when approaching.
Single Green Flash (After Button Press)
- The indicator and rear lights are both enabled.
Three Green Flashes (After Three Button Presses)
The indicator and rear lights are both enabled.
Flashing Green (20 Flashes on Startup)
The device performed a successful update.
Additionally, the indicator lights will briefly flash.
Solid Yellow
- The device is in demo mode. See Enabling or Disabling Demo Mode on the zumo R1 Radar for more information.
Single Yellow Flash (After Button Press)
- The indicator lights are enabled. The rear lights are off, but radar detection is working.
Solid Blue - Normal Operation
The device features are limited because the motorcycle is traveling at a low rate of speed.
No vehicles are shown on the zūmo Radar app or connected navigator.
While in this mode, the handlebar lights will not alert the rider when a vehicle is alerted with the rear red light.
If a fast approaching vehicle from behind is detected in this mode, rear lights will flash to warn the approaching vehicle.
Flashing Blue - Bluetooth
- The device is in Bluetooth pairing mode. The light will pulse for three minutes, until a Bluetooth device is paired, or until the device button is pressed.
Solid Orange - Error
- The device is experiencing degraded performance because the rear sensor is obstructed. Verify there is nothing blocking the radar sensor such as saddlebags, cargo, etc. and the radar has a clear view behind the motorcycle.
Three Orange Flashes (After Three Button Presses) - Normal Operation
- The indicator lights are disabled. The rear lights are off, but radar detection is working.
Solid Red - Error
The device is not operational because of a system error. You may need to restart the device:
Hold the device button for 10 seconds, then release. The status LED will turn off and the device restarts.
This can also indicate interference from other radar transmitters.
When accompanied by the overheating symbol on the zūmo Radar app or connected navigator, the radar is powered off to cool down for 30 seconds.
Flashing Red (20 Flashes on Startup)
The device failed a software update. You may be need to retry the update.
Additionally, the indicator lights will briefly flash.
Magenta (Solid or Flashing)
The device is performing a software update.
During this time, the radar is temporarily disabled. No vehicles or alerts are reported.
Normal functionality will be restored once the update is complete.
