Clearing a Garmin eLog Diagnostic Event Indicator

When using your Garmin eLog you may receive diagnostic events while in operation. See your owner's manual for steps to resolve the diagnostic events.

Once you have resolved the diagnostic events, the Garmin eLog will display a diagnostic event indicator at the top of the Garmin eLog app. These events will clear on their own when the criteria below are met. The timestamp on the event will determine if the event happened again or if it's the original occurrence that has not cleared yet.

Power Data Diagnostic Event:

The adapter did not receive power or was not fully functional for a period of time. The data diagnostic event indicator is cleared when the adapter does not lose power or stop functioning for more than 30 minutes in a 24 hour period.

Engine Synchronization Data Diagnostic Event:

The adapter failed to synchronize with the vehicle engine computer to record required engine data for driver logs. The data diagnostic indicator is cleared when there are no more records with missing data for the current 24 hour period and the previous 7 days.

Missing Required Data Elements Data Diagnostic Event:

The Garmin eLog system failed to obtain one or more required data elements when recording driver logs. The data diagnostic indicator is cleared when there are no more records with missing data for the current 24 hour period and the previous 7 days.

Data Transfer Diagnostic Event:

A failure occurred with the method for transferring roadside inspection reports. The data diagnostic indicator is cleared when the data transfer has been confirmed.

Unidentified Driving Records Data Diagnostic Event:

At least 30 minutes of unidentified driving was recorded. The data diagnostic event indicator is cleared when driving time logged as an unidentified driver for the current 24 hour period and the previous 7 consecutive days drops to 15 minutes or less. Unidentified driving records will also go away when a driver claims them.
