Using the inReach Remote With a Garmin Handheld
Pairing an inReach® satellite communicator with the inReach Remote widget allows the following actions from a compatible Garmin handheld:
Send custom messages
Send check-in/preset messages1
View message replies
Start/stop tracking
Trigger an SOS
Important Notes Before Using the inReach Remote
The latest software versions should be installed on the inReach Satellite Communicator and compatible Garmin handheld. For detailed instructions, see - Help with Product Updates.
An active inReach subscription is required to use the features of the inReach Remote on a compatible device.
Both devices need to remain within close proximity (10 feet) to use the inReach Remote.
The inReach Remote widget can be used while the inReach device is simultaneously paired with a smartphone.
inReach Remote Device Compatibility
NOTE: Only devices compatible with the inReach Remote and equipped with ANT+ can be paired (inReach SE®+, inReach Explorer®+, and older DeLorme® satellite communicators are not compatible).
Before attempting to pair, ensure both the inReach device and Garmin handheld are compatible with inReach Remote. To check compatibility, see - Garmin Products That Support the inReach Remote Feature.
Enabling inReach Remote on Active inReach Device
The inReach Remote sensor can be turned on or off in the Sensor settings of the Setup menu on the inReach device.

Select inReach Remote.
Select Enabled to turn On.
Choose a Verification option:
On: Allows pairing only to approved inReach Remote devices.
Off: Allows pairing to any nearby inReach Remote devices without approval.
Press MENU twice to access the main menu.
Select Setup.
Select Sensors.
Select inReach Remote.

Select Settings.
Select inReach Remote.
Select Status to enable inReach Remote.
The status will change to On with the toggle up when inReach Remote is enabled.
Select Verification to enable or disable verification:
On: Allows pairing only to approved inReach Remote devices.
Off: Allows pairing to any nearby inReach Remote devices without approval.
