(2020) Service Advisory 20117: Cycle 20M2 Basemap

PRODUCTS AFFECTED:

All original series GTN 6XX/7XX products are affected.

NOTE
GTN Xi Series products are not affected.

ISSUE:

A software issue prevents loading basemap version 20M2 to a GTN with basemap version 19M1.

WARNING
Do not use basemap (land and water data) information for primary navigation. Basemap data is intended only to supplement other approved navigation data sources and should be considered as an aid to enhance situational awareness.

ACTION:

Do not load basemap version 20M2 to a GTN with basemap version 19M1. Doing so may result in no basemap.

Follow the procedure below to load basemap version 18M1 before loading basemap version 20M2.

NOTE
This procedure can also be used to update a GTN with no basemap, to basemap version 20M2.

1. Load basemap version 18M1 (https://avdb.garmin.com/basemap_update_18m1.exe).
2. Update to basemap version 20M2 as normal.

RESOLUTION:

This will be fixed in basemap version 20M3.
