Garmin Express Displays a Server Error Message When Updating a Garmin UConnect System

UConnect systems with navigation software version 5.19 and older cannot be updated using Garmin Express until a map update kit has been purchased and installed.

If an update kit has not been purchased and installed in the vehicle, Garmin Express will display the error message “Sorry, we’re having a problem communicating with our servers.”

To Determine the Software Version on Your UConnect System:

  1. Touch Nav on your UConnect system
  2. Touch Settings from the navigation home screen
  3. Touch System
  4. Touch About

The map update kit can be purchased by visiting https://chryslergroup.navigation.com/home/en_US/ChryslerNA/USD.

Follow the instructions included with the purchased update to complete the entire software update process.

NOTE: Updates are not mandatory or required for your device to continue operating. You can continue to use the device with a previous version installed.
