Installation Instructions and FAQs for the Vector 3 Small Parts Kit

Below are FAQs related to the updated battery compartment parts available for Vector 3 and 3S systems.


Why Did Garmin Come up With This Kit?

Garmin identified an issue with the battery contacts of returned Vector 3 units. It was determined that the batteries changing size under normal discharge over time can cause the battery contacts to become compressed which can result in power drops and spikes. This, combined with the shock and vibration experienced in cycling, could permanently deform the contacts leading to disconnects. The battery swelling does not present any safety–related concerns. This kit contains design improvements to mitigate these potential issues.



What Is Included in the Kit?

Below is a breakdown of each part included in the kit. Not all parts need to be used to address the issue described above.

Additional Parts

The following parts are in addition to the battery board and door parts.

Garmin provides you two additional battery door seals if the one installed on the replacement door becomes damaged.

What Type of Batteries Should I Use?

For improved performance Garmin recommends the following: Energizer® 2L76 Battery

This single coin cell battery results in only needing one for each pedal instead of two. You may only find this model of battery online or in a store that specializes in replacement batteries. For a detailed list of recommended batteries see the following:
