What is the Health Snapshot Feature on My Garmin Watch?
Garmin Health Snapshot captures a collection of key health-related insights recorded during a two-minute session. The report includes heart rate (HR), heart rate variability (HRV), Pulse Ox, respiration, which collectively provide you a glimpse of your overall cardiovascular status. To learn more about each metric, see related content below.

How Do I Record a Health Snapshot?
The following instructions to record a Health Snapshot should work for most compatible watches. For specific instructions on your watch, see your owner's manual.
Access the activity menu.
Select Health Snapshot.
Press the start key to begin the two-minute timer.
Hold still until the two-minute activity completes.
Once you complete the Health Snapshot recording, the watch will display a summary of the information collected. The data is also sent to your Garmin Connect™ account where you can access it from the Health Stats Menu under Health Snapshot.
How Do I View the Details of a Health Snapshot?
The Health Snapshot glance will provide details of your last recording. If you do not see the Health Snapshot glance on your watch, consult your owner's manual for instructions on how to customize your glances.
After syncing with Garmin Connect, you can also view the Health Snapshot details in Garmin Connect and save the file as a PDF. Select your platform below for instructions.

What Do the Different HRV Values in My Health Snapshot Mean?
During a Health Snapshot, your Garmin device calculates two different HRV measurements: SDRR and RMSSD. Both are measured in milliseconds, and the differences between them are subtle.
SDRR is the standard deviation in time between heartbeats, which is sometimes referred to as the “RR interval.” It is a useful reading for getting a sense of overall cardiac health during regular daily activities.
RMSSD stands for the "root mean square of successive differences" between normal heartbeats. Athletes often use this measurement to assess recovery status and training readiness.
In general, a higher HRV expressed in terms of RMSSD is associated with parasympathetic dominance within your autonomic nervous system, a sign that you are in rest-and-digest mode. On the other hand, a lower HRV expressed in terms of RMSSD is typically associated with elevated sympathetic activity within your autonomic nervous system, an indication of stress or fight-or-flight response. The sensitive and constantly changing nature of HRV makes it simultaneously a rich source of physiological insight and challenging to interpret. Converting HRV into meaningful insight on stress and recovery is a complicated process that requires the application of physiological knowledge.
